I started his roofing business in 1997. Then, the roofing industry was seeing its last bit of the Hot Tar Roofs. I was introduced to a Modified Bitumen Torch Down Roofing System. Most roofing contractors got into it. As time went by most contractors were switching to EPDM and also a lesser-known systems called TPO and PVC.

As with many roofing systems, the technique is everything. There were many unknown problems with the Torch Down Roofing System at the time. But over time I developed and improved the installation technique that eventually led to the much superior roofing system that we refer to as the Two Ply Modified Bitumen Torch Down Roofing  System.

I have been a roofing contractor for over 30 years, and now I serve as a Commercial Roof Consultant. Architects and engineers do not have the experience and knowledge of what systems are best for flat roofs. For the most part, they would follow the recommendation of roofing contractors they are familiar with and not necessary the best system.

Although many cities and towns want to prohibit the installation of Modified Bitumen Torch Down Rubber membranes, it is by far the best roofing system on the market. There decisions to abandoned this system is because of fear and uneducated decision makers.

Not an easy start as a Roofing Contractor/ Consultant

The first year of being a roofing contractor was a very challenging. I didn’t know any roofing system or understand any of the techniques to install a rubber roof. I got in head first and faced so many uphills. The first year was a learning experience, and I almost did not make it. TI had many callbacks on all the jobs.

But I learned with every callback and finally became excellent with the torch down roofing system.

Eventually, we developed a roofing system that would outlast any other system. This system comprises of two layers of Modified Bitumen membrane that are fused together.

With all my experience I became a roof consultant. With the vast knowledge about roofing I have acquired over the years, I can save any property a lot in making the right decisions. Sometimes the saving can be as much as 50% of what most Roofing Contractors would estimate what it cost to install a new roof.
